Abstract:The spaceborne cloud radar is a quantitative active microwave remote sensing instrument. In order to ensure the high-precision measurement of the cloud particle reflectivity factor by the cloud radar, so as to accurately retrieve the macroscopic and microscopic physical characteristics of the cloud, it is necessary to calibrate the cloud radar. This article briefly introduces the principles and methods of spaceborne cloud radar calibration, including internal calibration and external calibration methods. It focuses on summarizing the current development status of the existing foreign satellite-borne cloud radar calibration technology, and proposes the technical difficulties of active external calibration,which can provide reference to Chinese space cloud measurement radar calibration design in future.
